Description of Cryotherapy Treatments

Whole-body cryotherapy (WBC) involves short bursts of extreme cold that activate skin receptors, prompting the release of endorphins—your body’s natural painkillers and mood enhancers. This results in:

  • Reduced inflammation

  • Accelerated muscle recovery

  • Improved blood and lymphatic circulation

  • Enhanced immune system response

Cryotherapy is popular in sports medicine, rehabilitation, wellness spas, and cosmetology. Top athletes and sports teams around the world trust it for fast recovery and relaxation.

Frequently Asked

What is Thermovision Technology?

Thermovision—or thermal imaging—visually displays temperature distribution across the body using infrared sensors. Built into the CryoStar Grand:

  • Monitors heat responses in real time

  • Identifies areas of enhanced circulation post-treatment

  • Color-coded output: red/yellow for warmth, blue for cool areas

  • Based on Planck’s radiation law and modern bolometer sensors

Thermography allows users and practitioners to see the body’s physiological response to cryotherapy instantly.

How Many Cryotherapy Treatments Are Required?

Treatment frequency depends on goals and injury severity:

  • 3–4 sessions for light recovery

  • 10–20 sessions for sustained therapeutic effect

  • Twice-daily sessions possible (with 4–6 hours between)

Cryotherapy boosts circulation, accelerating recovery and reducing inflammation. Daily or alternate-day sessions are recommended for optimal results.

How to Combine Cryotherapy with Physical Therapy

For best results, cryotherapy should be combined with physiotherapy exercises post-treatment:

  • Strengthens joints and muscles

  • Enhances flexibility and mobility

  • Helps maintain recovery gains

Initial discomfort is common and shows that muscles and joints are reactivating. Patients should follow physical therapists' routines closely during recovery.

Let’s Answer Your Questions

What is cryotherapy, and how does it work?

Cryotherapy exposes your body (or targeted areas) to extremely cold temperatures for a short time (2-3 minutes for whole-body, up to 10-12 for localized). It triggers a "thermal shock" that reduces inflammation, boosts endorphins, and kickstarts recovery. Think of it as a super-powered ice bath without the mess or long soak!

It uses a new image-processing platform and supports recording 4K/60fps HDR videos, with optional 10-bit D-Log M and HLG color modes, elevating multiple shooting specifications.

It is equipped with the DJI O4 FHD digital video transmission system, which provides a max transmission distance of up to 20 km*. It comes with the newly upgraded ActiveTrack 360°, Waypoint Flight, Advanced RTH, Cruise Control, and other intelligent features. Data tested under FCC standard in an unobstructed environment without interference.

Used for reference purposes only and provides no guarantee for actual transmission distance.

What's the difference between whole-body cryotherapy and localized cryotherapy?

Whole body: You step into a chamber (or sauna) where your entire body (except head) gets cooled, great for full recovery, energy boost, and inflammation reduction.
Localized: Targets specific spots (face, joints, back) with a handheld device perfect for spot treatments like reducing wrinkles, pain relief, or post-workout soreness. No full chamber needed!

Is cryotherapy the same as electric vs nitrogen? Which is better?

No, nitrogen cryotherapy uses liquid nitrogen vapor (colder, often -100°C+, but requires tanks/refills and ventilation; head stays out).
Electric cryotherapy uses refrigerated air (plug-and-play, no tanks, safer with fresh oxygen, temps ~ -30°C to -110°C, great for targeted/localized like facials).
Many prefer electric for convenience, lower costs, and no vapor/fumes especially in clinics or for skin-focused sessions.

What are the main benefits people love?

Faster muscle recovery & reduced soreness
Less inflammation & joint pain
Skin rejuvenation (fewer wrinkles, glow, collagen boost)
Endorphin rush = better mood & energy
Improved sleep & overall wellness
Results vary, but many feel energized right away and see cumulative benefits after 5-10 sessions.

Does it hurt? Is it painful?

Not really! It's intensely cold (like jumping into snow), but short and dry—no moisture means no "burn" like an ice bath. Most describe it as invigorating or shocking, with a pins-and-needles feel that fades fast. Localized feels even milder.
Is it worth it for anti-aging/skin glow?
Absolutely a 2026 favorite! Localized cryo (especially electric) reduces inflammation (wrinkle culprit), tightens skin, and boosts collagen for that youthful bounce. Many report visible glow after just a few sessions.
How long is a session, and how often should I do it?
Whole-body: 2-3 minutes
Localized/facial: 5-12 minutes
Start with 3-5 sessions in the first week, then 1-3 per week for maintenance. Cumulative benefits build over time!
